You have probably heard of Skool by now. Alex Hormozi is running a lot of Commercials for the Skool Games.

The Number #1 Advice they give is: Start a Free Skool Community – Give so much free Value and then Upgrade to a Paid Community. While that is obviously working for some.

It’s not the way that will make you rich.

Hey friend! Welcome to Roots to Revenue. If you were forwarded this email, add your email below to make sure you receive my next issue in your inbox.

Skool is only for people with a big following!

Most people that are successful on Skool have a pretty big Audience to begin with. They are not starting from scratch and this is not their first product. Many have moved their business over to Skool – they did not start on Skool.

There are another 4 Reasons that will keep you from succeeding on Skool:

  • You don’t have an Audience – Without enough people a community is empty.
  • You don’t have enough Time – Free Communities are sucking your time.
  • You won’t make enough money – Most Skool Communities are making $20-50 per Member, with a few earning more.
  • You don’t actually own the Audience – The way Skool is set up it works well to scale Skool, but not your Business. You don’t own the Contact Info – they do.

I know this might be hard to hear. I have ran my own Discord Server for a while. It is hard. You need to interact a whole lot more with people – that might never buy from you.

Instead of letting you down, let me show you how you can actually start your business – that can later scale into a Community!

Here’s how, step by step:

Step 1: Start with a Service or Consulting Offer

Many people belief, that a cheap Offer in the beginning will sell so much easier. That’s not the case though.

You need to have a lot more Customers for a cheaper offer. So a Consulting or Coaching Offer is getting you results a lot faster. The other benefit with a Service offer is: You are in control to get the results.

The best way to get started is by focusing on your T-Model Skillset. I have explained this Framework in a earlier Letter and Video.

Once you start growing your business – you will come to a point, where you can’t take on more work. It will be too time consuming. This is when you will be ready for step 2.

Step 2: Grow into a Group Offer

This is where we will start to see some depth in our Services. We are slowly transitioning away from doing the Service to teaching the Service instead.

The benefit of starting this now is – that you have already collected Testimonials from your Clients. You are getting more leads walking in your door. This will make the transition pretty easy.

With a Group Offer in Place and starting to unroll that – you can also consider moving it to a paid Community Offer. Which is what we will cover next.

Step 3: Now you’re ready to scale into a Skool Community!

Now that you have an Audience, an Offer and actual Customers – you start moving over to a Paid Community.

Why do we start with the Paid Community? Because it is actually worth your time. When you are scaling it might make sense to work with a Team on launching a free Skool, but until then – Free Skools are just not a good place to spend your time. You are also collecting a lot of people that want your Attention, but aren’t actually interested in your business.

Conclusion

As we have covered in this Letter – The best way to start is with a High Value Service or Consulting Offer. Then over time we will work our way over to the Community Offer, but that is a later step.

What many people forget is, that business is not a Sprint. It is a Marathon. So better pace yourself. You are losing, when you’re out of the Game.

The Goal of Business is to stay in Business for a long time. This also means that you have many opportunities to switch vehicles as you go. You don’t have one Car in your Lifetime, so also not one Business Model.

Until next Time on the Roots to Revenue.

  • Should you be authentic?

Hey Reader, No matter where I look right now, people tell me to be more authentic. Is that really helpful though? I don’t think so. Let me explain why. Being authentic could mean that you’re relatable and personal. It is to be honest. This is what I would understand as being authentic. There is also a different meaning to it. Not many people would describe it as such, but you can observe the behaviors. In reality, a person says “I’m authentic” when they give their unfiltered opinion. Being…

  • Strive for Excellence not Perfection

Strive for Excellence not Perfection How often do we freeze up and can’t go forward, because something we have created isn’t good enough – isn’t perfect? Way too often. I have spent so many hours trying to perfect something. Our goal is often completion, or perfection. Reaching the 100%. It seems like it is always escaping us. I want to challenge the idea of perfection. We should strive for excellence. Doing something not for 100% perfection, but rather to a 90% excellence. Perfection keeps…

There are situations where he is less comfortable. So he slows down. He takes it one step at a time. Obviously, it doesn’t always work. He falls down and gets…
