A Morning Routine Won’t Save You

Hey Reader,

Recently, a video went viral on TikTok.
One Hustle Bro was showing off his morning routine.
I’m not sure whether it was his actual morning routine (which I doubt) or if it was just staged.

The full routine displayed in the video took him 5.5 hours.
Five and a half hours.

That’s just insane.

You won’t get anything done by doing his morning routine.

There has been so much chatter about the different morning routines.
Yet nobody asks about the evening routines.

To get a good start in the morning, your evening routine actually matters most.

If you go out drinking and partying in the evening, and you’re back home at 2 in the morning —
you won’t be sober and ready to go at 6.
You will sleep in.
When you get up, you feel hungover.

There is an interesting observation:

For the Jews, the Sabbath doesn’t start in the morning
it starts at 6 p.m.
The evening before.

In Germany, there is also the tradition of the church bells ringing on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. to announce the Sunday.

Our culture today is so focused on living in the moment
that the evenings are the highlight of the day.
Prime-Time TV is always in the evening.

All the talk shows.
All the new movies.

Entertainment lives in the evening.

So it is true what the CEO from Netflix said:

“Netflix isn’t competing with TV. Netflix competes with sleep.”

They need you to keep watching in the evening.

The best thing you can do to gain control over your days
is by setting your evening in control.

We are also watching series and shows in the evening.
But start a few routines as well.

Do not let the shows get the best of us.

🪵 Keep chopping Wood!

Your Jowi

  • Should you be authentic?

Hey Reader, No matter where I look right now, people tell me to be more authentic. Is that really helpful though? I don’t think so. Let me explain why. Being authentic could mean that you’re relatable and personal. It is to be honest. This is what I would understand as being authentic. There is also a different meaning to it. Not many people would describe it as such, but you can observe the behaviors. In reality, a person says “I’m authentic” when they give their unfiltered opinion. Being…

  • Raising a Toddler… or a Business?

The other day I got to spend more time watching my son. My wife was busy, so she asked if I would help out more. Since I’m usually busy running our business, it was fun to be with him for longer.I’m always amazed how much he learns and understands. Yet some of his actions seem rather random. As soon as we do one thing, he gets up to find a book. No matter how much I think I know what’s going to happen —I need to be quick on my feet. I can plan all I want. When he doesn’t want to do it, it…

  • Stop Chasing the Perfect Offer

One thing I thought for years was that I just need to create one offer stack. I enjoyed reading Million Dollar Offers by Alex Hormozi. His concept of the Offer Stack was a great one. I took it to heart to figure out the best way to build my maximum offer—trying to put all the important parts in it. I built an offer that was huge. It would take a long time to build—and so I hesitated. I wanted to build the best offer ever. I spent one year perfecting this one main offer. There was so much to…

  • Focus on Strategy, Not Tactics

The other day I read another post that I thought was interesting. The guy said he ran a test: after 800 days of posting daily, he focused on quality over quantity, and then only posted 2 times per week. His point was that too many are only posting daily, but they should do better content. This was setting me riled up. It was a good example of doing what he did, not doing what he said. He got to the many views by posting daily. So that’s the strategy: Post daily. It will give you data, skill,…

  • Why Productivity Won’t Make You Successful

Over the last years, I’ve been chasing to become more productive.Trying to get more done.Always chasing to become more efficient. I pushed it to the extreme. You could say I embraced the hustle culture for the glory of God.But then… I never finished my to-do list. I was always feeling rushed. When I took time off for the family,it felt like I was missing out on getting stuff done. It’s a virus of being busy. When we get asked today,“How are you?”How often do we reply:“Busy.” We’ve started…

  • Clear beats Clever

Clear beats Clever I have designed 30 websites, launched 60 products. The biggest problem I had was to make myself clear. I played around with titles and the feel of words. Introducing my own language. The feedback I often got was: “I don’t understand what you do.” I just wasn’t clear. My big goal was to be clever. So that’s what I aimed for. The solution to all of it is to write clear. When people can understand you and have a feeling that you speak to them – it changes the game. You want…
