Are you present or just around?

Being a dad is more than bringing a paycheck home.
It’s more than paying all the bills on time.
You are actually the leader, caretaker, and playmate too.

You can teach your kids many lessons. They learn how to have fun while also living out their strength.
There is a requirement to all of this: You need to be present.

You can’t be absent.
It’s not just physically being in the room but also showing your full attention and focus.

This is the first side of the Present Provider.
When it’s family time – it’s family time.
It’s no longer work time.
No checking social media or some emails.

Recently, I had another epiphany.
There is a second side to the Present Provider.

I bought two memberships to two different communities.
In one, the founder has the expertise but has hired a community manager to keep everybody engaged.
In the other, the founder is actively leading the conversations too.

I was figuring that out as I reflected on why I enjoyed one community more than the other.
I thought: that’s integrity.

And in business we have the same result.
The Absent Provider has worse service for the client.

It’s better to be a chief of one: Present Provider.

We can do both family and business.
Both of it needs us to Provide with Presence.
That is also good and well.

It’s not about balance.
It’s about doing both well.

When you’re present for your family, you also can figure out how to be present for your clients too.

Clients want results and your family wants to make memories.

Both require:
Attention. Focus. Time.
= Provided by giving your presence.

Hey Reader, There is one word that keeps popping up right now. Integrity. With all the AI tools coming out, with social media and online businesses, there are people that just see the quick money. They do anything to put people to buy. The last few years, I’m in a chat that we have entered the attention economy. I’m expecting that the next few years we will be in the trust economy. You have to be trustworthy. Don’t use trust for your benefit! I believe integrity will be a major part of this….

  • Working with Constraints

Working with Constraints Everybody has constraints. We usually try to ignore them. We try to show all the good things and advantages we have. But we don’t want to share limitations we have. Constraints are a powerful opportunity once you use them right. There is a saying that goes something like this: “You can do anything, but you can’t do everything.” The opportunities we have right now seem endless. You think you can conquer the world. Once reality hits, you realize – that you’re still…

  • Goal or Journey? Both!

Hey Reader, When I was in university, there was a big debate: Whether life was about the goal to achieve or enjoying living the journey. As a success-driven person, I always stated that the goal and the outcome matter most. Now that I hunted success for many years, I’ve noticed another pattern. If you don’t enjoy the process to get the success—success is falling short. You need to have goals because they serve as landmarks to give your journey a direction. That is something I have seen in…

  • Moving Faster by Slowing Down

I often have the urge to do more.To find more things to do and try to speed things up. Patience is important. It’s not something that comes natural to me.I want to have a thought become reality ASAP. As a result, I have the tendency to lean into the hustle. It’s an urge I need to fight actively. Sometimes it’s faster to slow down. Analyze. Observe. Think. Plan. Then take a step forward that actually makes a difference. The real power is to do only things that matter.Ignore tasks that just run…

  • Why Your To-Do List Might Be Holding You Back

Our to-do list feels endless. There are so many things we could do. Some are more important than others. I recently listened to a podcast. They were chatting about this one guy being paid a lot to be an advisor. Yet he didn’t do much. He said that his job was not to add to the tasks in the business, but to make sure they didn’t do anything that hindered the business profits. I have also experienced the same thing. The real difference between success and failure is to do the right things and…

  • The No. 1 Misconception about Success in Business

Hey Reader, I enjoy success. There is something extremely satisfying about winning. For me, success is the biggest motivation to play. A statement that I used to define was: “We’re in it to win it.” The more I chase success, the more I notice some patterns of bad success. You look like you have it all, but you’ve lost the important things along the way. We all look at business and probably think that the amount of money is the deciding factor of success in business. The biggest misconception…
