Being seen is not the same as being seen by the right people.
Greetings Reader,
When I first started my business I was sure we would be the over night success. We weren’t. It is more a slow grind.
My number 1 hurdle was to be seen by people.
I had a good idea. People liked the idea, but it was academic.
So as I am an ambitious founder I felt like my idea deserved to be bought. If people only understood what it would do for them.
Instead of doing the uncomfortable thing to become seen. I did what all good founders do, right? I worked on my product.
The lesson I have heard over and over again. A really good product is going to sell itself. That’s how Facebook did it. That’s how Amazon does it. It all sounds like it is easy once you have the great product.
As you have probably also heard before. Or learned yourself in the painful drought.
So I set out on the next quest: Be seen by people.
Now I entered the arena of Marketing and Content Creation.
When I get into a new area I dig myself in. Chase down every rabbit hole. The result: I need a pro studio to film videos.
High production = High Views = Being seen by many people.
So I started on YouTube. And to my surprise only 100 views. 100 Views. That’s not the number I expected. So I did what every good founder does: Double down YouTube + Social media.
Well it worked I got seen. Sadly no revenue came in. The viewers and my ideal customer was not the same. I had forestry students, 19-22 year old instead of 30 year old fathers. Being seen is not the same as being seen by the right people.
Do you know your people?
Think hard. Answer real.
Yours in Stewardship
Jowi
