Business is Boring!

Hey Reader,

In so many videos I’ve watched over the years, there is often the idea that business is so exciting.
There is always something new happening. There is always change.
You’re in a high-speed car chase.

While I definitely get that—especially when you’re starting out—you always want to be overwhelmed.

The reality is that business is boring.

There is not much happening once you find a routine that works.
The main goal is to stick to that routine as long as you can.

I do like to be by the water to fish.
The funny thing is that I couldn’t sit by the water for hours doing nothing.
I can however sit by the water with a rod for hours.
There is a difference.

That is also the difference of business.
One is doing nothing. The other one is doing active waiting.

Business is also about being active.
Yes, the process is strange. The same, but there is always the possibility of something big to happen.
You just need to be patient.
It can sometimes take years.

For some, that’s too long.
They keep switching their offer.
They go and start new platforms.
They jump around in their tools.

This is going to be slowing them down.

It is much better to stick with your boring business routine, because doing the right thing for years will compound your business.

The first 100 videos on YouTube put you out there.
The next 100 will bring more growth than the first 100 videos.
Yet the process for all will stay similar:
Idea to filming to editing to uploading.

You will find improvements.
You will get better.
The steps don’t change though.
This is the rhythm of business.

So when you feel like business is boring:
Don’t go changing everything just because it feels slow.
Sit back and relax. Keep chopping wood with rhythm.

Keep chopping Wood!

  • Avoid This Pricing Mistake Now

I sometimes click on ads. It is interesting to see how they are set up. I like to study what they do. On first sight, the ad looked good. The offer is interesting. The price is decent. I always feel the urge to double-check prices. And again: You are being charged $97 upfront and then $497 monthly. There is a price increase by 500% at the end of month one. Again, I found a sneaky price. This is why people get frustrated by online gurus. They are awesome at sales and suck at customer…

  • More knowledge is not the answer

I do like reading books. There is something about reading a book on the couch that is relaxing. It is a lot slower to read a book than to watch 10 YouTube videos in 2x speed. We live in an era of endless information. We can find an answer to every question in 1000 videos. Yet we keep looking for the golden shard to build our sensation. The one missing piece that will make the rest fall into place. I am also a knowledge junkie. I like to be informed before I take action. I have spent years…

  • How I’ve posted a daily Newsletter for 100 days

For the longest time, people have said:“Send a Newsletter. You need to own your list. You need to write a weekly Newsletter.” It took me over 4 years to even send my first Newsletter. I tried to follow the advice of all the industry leaders. Until one in-depth Newsletter a week. When I looked at their schedule, they said to work 2 hours per day. At the end of the week, you have a 3,000-word Newsletter. It will take 12 minutes to read that Newsletter. When I receive those Newsletters, some…
