You might be wondering, “If it’s so easy, why have I struggled?” The reality is, while the steps are simple, the challenge lies in consistently taking action. But once you understand the process, you’ll see how straightforward it is.

Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs struggle because they start in the wrong place and overcomplicate things.

Starting with the Product Instead of the Customer

Most people begin their business journey by focusing on their product. But that’s backwards! The key to success is understanding your customer first. Here’s why this matters—and a few other reasons why entrepreneurs struggle:

  • Reason #1: They focus on building the product before identifying the customer’s problem.
  • Reason #2: They overthink marketing instead of focusing on simple connections.
  • Reason #3: They don’t create enough touchpoints to build trust with potential customers.
  • Reason #4: They make the mistake of trying to perfect everything before launching.

But here’s the good news: I’m going to show you how to avoid these pitfalls and start building a thriving business in just five steps.

Here’s how, step by step:

Step 1: Know your customer

Your business starts with the customer. Who are you trying to help? Identify one customer, one problem, one dream, and one solution. The clearer you are on who your customer is and what they need, the easier it will be to connect with them.

Step 2: Focus on marketing—connect with your customer

Marketing doesn’t have to be complicated. The goal is simple: connect with your customer. Whether through social media, videos, or emails, you need to create 7 hours of content and have 11 touchpoints across 4 platforms. That’s the secret to building trust.

Common Mistake: People overcomplicate marketing by thinking they need elaborate campaigns. Stick to simple, consistent messaging that connects with your audience.

Step 3: Create a product that solves the problem

Now that you know your customer and have connected with them, it’s time to offer a solution. This is where your product comes in. Build a value ladder with a free offer (like an ebook), an initial offer, and a premium offer that transforms your customer’s problem into a dream.

Step 4: Collect cash—set up a simple sales system

You don’t need a perfect system, just a way to collect payments. Use platforms like Stripe or PayPal to start. Speed is more important than perfection—get your product out there and start making sales.

Step 5: Bring it all together—build your funnel

Once everything is in place—customer, marketing, product, and sales—you’ll have a funnel that moves people from discovery to purchase. Start with social media like Instagram or Twitter to reach new people, then deepen the relationship with YouTube videos and newsletters.
