Can You Compete with AI?

Hey Reader,

It feels like there is a threat in the air.

Now that ChatGPT is out for a few years already—and it’s constantly improving—
it feels like we are in a competition we can’t win.

I’ve been doing content marketing for almost 5 years.
It definitely changed over the last year.

There is a flood of content out there that is just generated by AI.
It is getting easier to stay consistent.

There is also a pattern I observe:

I’m not trying to compete with AI.
Since it’s a tool, I can use it well or I can use it poorly.

The thing is: for most people, it is competition
because it will replace them.

80% of people will not benefit from AI but will be replaced by it—
and not because they use it wrong, but because they are too generic.

70% of people will actually use it in a bad way to enhance their worst work.

How do you do this now?

There are three smart actions we need to take:

  1. Move from general to specific
AI will be great at giving general answers.
It is challenged to actually connect on a specific, person-to-person level.
    This means:

    • Get specific on who you are helping.
    • Get specific on the problems you’re solving.
    • We’ll see a lot more micro brands.
  2. Move from analog to digital
We need to start in the real world:
With real experiences, real people, real topics.
That’s why I’m writing my newsletter by hand in a paper notebook.
  3. Tell real stories
AI can come up with stories—
but it can’t live the true story.
Those three things will help you keep your content real.

They can be enhanced by AI—but not replaced.

Hey Reader, When I look around, most men want to start a side hustle to get the business off the ground. I love the idea and motivation they have—to provide for their family and spend more time with them. There is only one flaw on that side:They plan for a side hustle, not for an exit strategy. The numbers tell the difference. Most people starting a side hustle are happy about any money they can make. They start to offer low-price digital products:A template for $20 or an ebook for $8. • The Productivity Lie I Believed for 5 Years

For the last few years I’ve read so many productivity books. Watched tons of videos trying to figure out how can I get more done in my 24 hours than others. This is the core driver of productivity types: Getting more done with the time they have. It’s all about efficiency. There is one major flaw with productivity that took me 5 years to understand:It doesn’t matter how fast I run, if I’m running in the wrong direction. In the productivity space there is a lot of clutter about tactics that…

I used to rearrange my to-do lists at least once a week. The issue was that I kept planning my perfect week. I kept making elaborate plans. This is what productivity has taught me: I need to plan for efficiency. But the truth is even more simple than that: Make building your business a habit. I write this today as I have just reached a pretty big milestone. I have published 100 newslettersconsistently. What was overwhelming in the beginning now feels like a normal thing to do. Writing my…

“Well, I’m not ready.”How often do I hear this from others? How often do I think it myself? Too often. The truth is: You will never feel ready. The more you learn, the more you figure out what else there is to learn. Even when I feel like I have something figured out —the world changes and I have to start over again. Every time I used to start over,I’d get faster because I got better. I also know: Everybody else needs to start over too. There’s this constant battle inside: “Just start” sounds…

  • Strive for Effectiveness, not Efficiency

Hey Reader, One thing I’ve seen over the last few years in the productivity field is the hunt for efficiency. It is the idea that when you get things done faster—you will automatically get more done. Let’s take a trip down memory lane: The idea of efficiency stems from the industrial revolution. In factories, it mattered to get more done faster. Thus, the overall productivity rose. The machine could produce more products in less time. When I first got introduced to productivity, I fell in…
