From Ownership to Stewardship

How often have I walked through the world thinking that it all was mine?

My things belong to me.

It already starts with the young children. They have a hard time sharing their toys.

It’s really difficult for them to share.

Job says:“God gives. God takes away. Praise the Lord.”

For a long time, I didn’t understand how he could say something like that.

When I started to work on the Present Provider Concept, I started thinking about the foundation.

Why am I trying to start a business?

To provide for my family.

But business is not the only path to provide.

The fascinating thing is – the more I was working on building my business – the more I could see a pattern.

No matter how much I tried, God was in control.

He guided me. He blessed my actions, or He pushed me into failure – so that I would learn.

I have to trust in him.

Now that I started to see this – I also started to understand that everything belongs to God.

God is the creator.

He is in control.

He is the owner.

What does that make me?

God has called me into Stewardship.

I am a Steward of God.

He provides me with everything I need to really do my job well.

He trusted me with my wife.

He trusted me with my son.

He trusted me with my business.

They don’t belong to methey belong to God.

I am blessed to be their leader and to steward them for God.

So God put me in Power, but He didn’t give me Ownership.

He can bless. He can take.

Now I can say with Job:

“God gives. God may take away. Praise the Lord.”

It’s a hard lesson to learn, but it gives your life purpose, humility, and strength.

You have to act.

We all need to learn to become better stewards.

What do you have to be a Steward of?

Until next time,

Your Jowi

When we often talk about authenticity, we often have different understandings of what that actually means. Over the last year, I have seen a trend come up. The trend has me worried. Authenticity is understood as showing all your emotion, being real in the moment. This does not build trust. It does not show a good manner. Every day has its ups and downs. Yet we don’t need to start with or share all that. There is another way to show your authenticity —that actually creates more trust and is…

  • Followers Aren’t Created Equal

I see this so often in the last years:Creators come up. Think all they need to do to make money and drive a brand is to build a big following online. There is the idea that any following is going to make you rich. Your following just needs to be big enough. But the reality is that followers aren’t created equal. I would trade 1,000 followers on Instagram for 1,000 subscribers on YouTube any day. I’d also rather have 1,000 subscribers to my newsletter than 1 million TikTok followers. This is…

Hey Reader, When I was starting out, my wife said:“You seem to be like you’re on a rollercoaster.” When a video I uploaded performed well — I was excited.I was on top of the world. Another day, I got a bad comment, and the whole day was ruined by insecurity. This continued day in, day out. On extreme days, it was the top of the world in the morning, and the valley of death in the afternoon. This brings me to the most important skill to master: Emotional Resilience. That you don’t take…

  • The Era of Information Inflation

We live in the era of Information Inflation. Most of us hear about the economic inflation. The numbers are going up. We can buy less with the money we have. The same is also true with Information Inflation. We live in a world where information itself is worth little. It used to be that books were so expensive. There was only one Bible in the town that the priest could read. Today we have Google, ChatGPT, and YouTube. We can read, listen, and watch more information all day every day of the…

For the longest time, people have said:“Send a Newsletter. You need to own your list. You need to write a weekly Newsletter.” It took me over 4 years to even send my first Newsletter. I tried to follow the advice of all the industry leaders. Until one in-depth Newsletter a week. When I looked at their schedule, they said to work 2 hours per day. At the end of the week, you have a 3,000-word Newsletter. It will take 12 minutes to read that Newsletter. When I receive those Newsletters, some…
