Hot Marketing Covers Up Cold Offers
Hey Reader,
There’s a tension most solopreneurs feel but rarely talk about.
You’re working hard on your marketing. Creating content. Building an audience. Showing up consistently.
But deep down, you’re wondering if your offer is actually good enough.
I’ve noticed something interesting: when your marketing is hot and your sales are cold, the instinct is to double down on more marketing. More posts. More emails. More outreach.
But when your marketing is cold and your sales are hot, you immediately know something’s working at the core level. People are buying despite your clumsy promotion.
That tells you everything about where the real problem lives.
Most people use aggressive marketing tactics to compensate for an offer that doesn’t quite fit. They add urgency. They create scarcity. They push harder. And sometimes it works. Sometimes people buy.
But here’s the question that keeps me up: Are they buying because the offer genuinely solves their problem, or are they buying because the marketing pressure was strong enough to override their hesitation?
There’s a huge difference between those two scenarios.
One creates satisfied clients who tell others. The other creates buyer’s remorse and refund requests.
The uncomfortable truth is that great marketing makes a great offer unstoppable. But great marketing also makes a mediocre offer temporarily sellable. And that’s dangerous because you can mistake activity for progress.
If you’re constantly grinding on marketing tactics but sales still feel hard, the issue might not be your visibility.
It might be that your offer doesn’t match what your audience actually needs.
Today’s Action: Ask yourself honestly: If you stopped all promotional tactics for a week, would people still seek out your offer? If the answer makes you uncomfortable, spend time today talking to past clients about what they actually needed versus what you sold them.
