How do we add texture into our digital lives?
Greetings Reader,
Recently I thought a lot about texture. As I’m a forester by trade and an outdoorsman (even though I’m more inside now than ever before…).
My thinking started with the feeling of wanting to be outside.
We just had a lot of snow and frost this winter. And now we have the first signs of spring coming.
My mind wandered to the memories of the early spring in the forest. The smell of wet dirt. Of mossy trees and the first sun beams. The birds all chirp in excitement of spring.
This gave me a riddle.
The internet world feels stale. Flat. Clean. There is no texture.
Everything feels like it’s been said before. We all are only copying templates, because they work. They are tested.
Yet it lacks character. It doesn’t feel. It doesn’t have texture.
Here is the riddle that I’m set to figure out: How do we add texture into our digital lives?
One step I found is to actually get a bigger notebook and write out the letters to you in the exact way I want you to read them.
In a test to take this a step further: Reply to this email, if you’d actually like to receive one of these letters in your mail.
I’m just curious if there is a way to make this more real again.
How many handwritten letters have you gotten in the mail in the last years?
Yours in Stewardship
Jowi
