How-to Content is Dying – PPL #183
The world is changing.
AI is speeding up the process.
We can do more in more things automatically.
I used to Google for a lot of questions I had.
At some point, those answers didn’t help anymore.
YouTube had become a better place to look for broken tasks.
When I wanted to see how to change the buttons on my car key, for example. I found a Video on YouTube explaining how to do it.
Recently our dishwasher leaked. It was flooding our kitchen. I tried YouTube and it failed me. No real time feedback made it hard to know what was broken.
So I consulted with ChatGPT.
I asked what I should do.
And it actually guided me through step-by-step.
I took a picture.
It told me what was broken and what I would need to fix it.
Then I drove to the store.
When I didn’t know what to get there, I took a picture and searched on it.
Within 2 hours it was all done and fixed.
The challenge is:
AI needs to be trained on recent models,
but how-to content will get less views.
Search will change.
We need to start with content that builds a real relationship.
That’s how we can stand apart.
We need to share insights, truth, and real takes.
It will be interesting how the shift is going to play out.
