When I was growing up, I always wanted to play with the big boys.

I didn’t want to play with the babies or toddlers… They were so boring.

Now with my Son I see the similar pattern. He is always chasing after the big boys.

The same applies for us today. We like to look at Dan Koe, Alex Hormozi or Gary Vee.

Dreaming that could be us one day. We could be the Big Boy.

The plan that I have for us today is simple:

How are we going to play with the Big boys?

Hey friend! Welcome to Roots to Revenue. If you were forwarded this email, add your email below to make sure you receive my next issue in your inbox.

The first Observation we have is this:

The Big Boys don’t just have a Personal Brand – they run a Personal Media Company!

In short the difference is:

They don’t just grow on one Platform – They are on all possible platforms.

They don’t just produce for One Piece of Content – They repurpose and publish multiple Pieces.

They don’t just post once in a while – They post frequently and consistiently.

So the Question that I have for us today is following:

How do we Level Up?

More Specifically:How do we grow our Personal Brand into a personal Media Company?

Before I can answer you this question, we need to establish: Why does it even matter?

It matters, simply because that’s the difference from growing on one Platform:

Getting 10k Views per month – to getting 115k Views per month

This can easily 10x your business – by changing your Personal Brand into your Personal Media Company!

Let’s dive into the differences that we can observe:

  • Discipline: Building a Consistent System
  • Commitment: Owning Your Media Identity
  • Overcoming Resistance: Crushing Excuses
  • Identity Shift: From Content Creator to Media Entrepreneur

Those Differences are so important to understand.

When I first heard of the Concept of Turning Pro I was so surprised, but when started to double-check these four points with the Big Boys – I could see them in place.

1. Discipline: Building a Consistent System

We need to understand the difference in Discipline between the Hobby-Level and the Big-Boy-League.

One thing that I constantly see is the Personal Brand on a Hobby Level, there’s often no consistent schedule for content creation. You post when inspiration hits or when you have the time. But to play in the Big Boy League, you need to develop a reliable, repeatable content system.

The key is discipline—showing up and doing the work, even when you don’t feel like it!

2. Commitment: Owning Your Media Identity

Turning pro means fully committing to your brand.

On the Hobby-Level, you might dabble in content creation, putting in effort when you feel like it. But pros understand that total commitment is required to play in the Big Boy League. Viewers can sense the Difference in your Attitude.

This means embracing your identity as a brand owner.

As the Brand Owner you must therefore also take full responsibility. Your Name, Face and Voice become the public-facing elements of your business. This can be Life changing for you and your Audience – Because they start to engage and trust you with what you do!

You have to make the decision to go all in and fully commit to your mission – that way you become a leader and start playing in the Big-Boy-League!

3. Overcoming Resistance: Crushing Excuses

When I started out I felt a lot of resistance.

I was scared, the fear of failure in me – made me procrastinate. The perfectionist in me – made me work in silent. Everybody in the Big-Boy-League has experienced this in some sort. This is hard, because it means you can publicly fail.

I know this sucks, but I also know – that once you get over this and crush your excuses good things will happen!

4. Identity Shift: From Content Creator to Media Entrepreneur

The biggest shift that happens when you turn pro is how you see yourself.

You’re no longer just a content creator with a small Personal Brand—you’re a media entrepreneur with a growing Personal Media Company.

The Big Boys know this. They’re not just thinking like a content creator—they’re thinking like the CEO of a media company. Their content is no longer just something they create for fun; it’s a strategic asset that grows their business. They’re managing their brand like a company, optimizing their reach, and leveraging all platforms as business tools.

Turning pro means you adopt a new identity.

You’re no longer just someone who posts content occasionally—you’re someone who runs a business through your personal brand. This mindset shift will guide your decisions and strategy moving forward.

It is this step that is the hardest part of them all. It affects all the other three observations.

Conclusion: Turning Pro and Playing in the Big-Boys-League

Turning pro is the shift from being a hobbyist to becoming a professional. It’s about building systems, committing to your media identity, overcoming resistance, and adopting the mindset of a media entrepreneur. This is how you move from being a content creator to a media operator—someone who runs a Personal Media Company.

When you’re ready to stop playing small and level up, it’s time to turn pro. Stop dabbling, stop making excuses, and start treating your personal brand like the powerful business it can be.
