On the Fatherhood Crisis

Family values have seen a lot of pushbacks in the last years.

Media seems to be against men, against fathers, and against husbands.

There are 3 major obstacles that we need to tackle in the next years to change the fatherhood crisis:

  • Absent Providers
  • Weakened Leadership
  • Adult Boyhood

The Absent Provider

This is a major issue to me.

How many hours does a father have with his family per week?

They are so little, because men need to go away from their families to provide.

The job including travel and break times is taking many about 50 hours per week.

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t work.

That’s why I believe we need to become Present Providers.

We should make our family part of what we do.

Let them assist.

The Second Thing

We need to step up as leaders of our family.

We need to fight back the rules of society to weaken the leadership of us in our family.

We should be able to make decisions for our family.

The Third Point

Boy development.

Many boys have a hard time becoming men.

A big part we have gaming now that is distracting boys from filling up responsibility.

I did also play many online games in youth. In the end, it is moving pixels around, but it doesn’t create any impact on this world.

It is a simulation of what we ought to do.

We simulate collecting firewood, but we don’t know how to use an axe.

Men need to create an impact – not just move pixels.

These 3 challenges are the obstacles we face for the next years.

Let’s step up and fix them.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Hey Reader, Last fall, I was pretty stressed. There were so many things I didn’t get done. I pushed hard. I was in hustle mode. I started daily newsletters as well as daily videos. I was pushing so hard—it felt like I was lifting the rock of my business by hand. Trying to walk up the stairs. With the hustle mode mindset,it felt like every step I took, I was falling one step behind. I couldn’t keep it up. So—I stopped. I stopped writing a newsletter. Stopped posting to YouTube. I took a step…

  • The Trap of Wantrepreneurs

A lot more people want to start a business today. A lot of people dream about the life they are wishing to live. But only a few starts — and even fewer succeed. I’ve been working on my business for the last 8 years. From having the idea, pivoting to a different offer, to learning the required skills—it has taken me a while. The last 5 years I fully committed to the craft. The reality is: starting a business is hard work. I have not been part of the community for a while. It took me a long…

  • Clock Building, Not Time Telling

All fathers I know want to leave their kids better off. They think about the legacy they leave behind. Many of those fathers think about starting a business. That’s what I also started out with. To this day I think the best way to start a business is with a service — something that you can coach or build for your clients. There is only one detail: This is all skill-based. You need to learn the skills. That is also why service is a good place to start. The hidden danger is that you become a…

  • Share the Scars, Not the Wounds

When we often talk about authenticity, we often have different understandings of what that actually means. Over the last year, I have seen a trend come up. The trend has me worried. Authenticity is understood as showing all your emotion, being real in the moment. This does not build trust. It does not show a good manner. Every day has its ups and downs. Yet we don’t need to start with or share all that. There is another way to show your authenticity —that actually creates more trust and is…

  • Why 13 Weeks Beats 12 Months

One thing I see often is: We plan for a year and then quit after one month. The fact is that most people already quit their New Year’s resolution by February. They plan and have high hopes.Next year is going to be different. So every December they sit down with big dreams. Finally to start that business. Finally to block more time for family. Every year it is sad to see how many start and then fail before they actually make a difference. We try to think and dream in a year. It feels like the…

  • 3 Major Parts to any Business

Hey Reader, When we’re just starting our business, it feels like there is so much to do. We have an endless to-do list. When it comes down to the actual parts of our business, there are only three parts:Product, Promotion & People. The Product is what you offer, that people need and are willing to pay for. The Promotion is getting people to know you and getting the right kind of people interested. Then there are People. People are on two sides. Either clients getting something or leaders…
