Stop Chasing Viral (Chase This Instead)
Hey Reader,
I used to think I needed millions of views to build my business.
I’d see creators with viral videos getting hundreds of thousands of views and think, “That’s what success looks like.”
So I chased it. I tried to create content that would appeal to everyone. Generic advice. Broad topics. Clickbait headlines.
And you know what happened? I got some views. But zero clients.
Because those millions of people scrolling past my content? They weren’t my people.
Here’s the truth nobody talks about: Going viral to the wrong audience is worse than not going viral at all.
If you’re a dog groomer in Germany, reaching 30 of the 50 dog groomers in your market is massive. That’s 60% market penetration. That’s not viral by internet standards, but it’s huge for your business.
Meanwhile, someone selling chocolate internationally might need 100,000 views just to reach the same percentage of their market.
The game isn’t about big numbers anymore. It’s about the right numbers.
I’d rather have 10 people deeply interested in what I offer than 10,000 people who will never buy from me. And here’s the thing: most business owners would agree with that statement. But then they go chase viral trends that have nothing to do with their offer.
You don’t need a unicorn business serving millions. A niche zebra serving a small group of people really well can build the life you actually want.
Your move: Stop asking “How can I reach more people?” Start asking “How can I reach more of MY people?”
