Tactics Die, Strategy Survives
Hey Reader,
I see the same cycle repeat every few months.
Someone cracks a tactic. Cold email templates that book 20 calls. A LinkedIn hook formula that goes viral. A DM script that converts at 30%.
Within weeks, everyone’s using it. Within months, it stops working. The tactic dies.
Then everyone scrambles to find the next one.
This is why you can’t build a business on tactics anymore. They have expiration dates built in.
The moment something works, it gets copied, saturated, and killed.
I learned this the hard way. I spent years chasing tactics. Every time I found one that worked, I’d go all in. Build my entire approach around it.
Then the platform would change. The algorithm would shift. What worked last month suddenly stopped.
I was constantly starting over.
What finally changed everything was switching from tactics to strategy.
Strategy is understanding why something works, not just how. It’s the principles beneath the execution.
When you understand strategy, you can create your own tactics. Adapt when platforms change. Build systems that last because they’re rooted in human psychology, not algorithm hacks.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: you can copy someone’s exact funnel, their posting schedule, their offer structure. But if you don’t understand the strategy behind why they built it that way, you won’t replicate their success.
Because tactics are contextual. What works for someone with 50K followers won’t work the same for you at 500.
What you need is real skill. Real knowledge. Real expertise.
That’s the only competitive advantage that compounds over time.
Stop collecting tactics. Start building strategic thinking.
Action: Pick one tactic you’re currently using. Ask yourself: why does this work? What principle is underneath it? Write down your answer.
