The Work Behind the Win

Hey Reader,

Everyone shows you the highlight reel.

The big numbers. The success story. The moment it all clicked.

Nobody shows you the work that got them there.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. The online business world is full of big claims. Six figures. Seven figures. Overnight success. And it creates this illusion that if you just find the right strategy, you’ll get the same result.

But that’s not how it works.

Behind every big win is unglamorous work nobody talks about. Systems being built. Offers being tested and failing. Conversations that went nowhere. Content that got ignored. Months of showing up with no visible progress.

The one hit wonder exists. But even the one hit wonder usually came after years of misses.

I’m guilty of this too. I share the insights. The lessons learned. The frameworks that work. But I don’t always show the mess it took to figure them out.

That needs to change.

Because when all you see is the outcome, you think you’re failing when you’re still in the middle of the process. You think something’s wrong with you because you haven’t hit the big number yet.

The truth is: The work is the point. Not just the outcome. The systems you build. The skills you develop. The relationships you form. That’s what actually creates the business.

The big number is just a byproduct of doing the work long enough.

So here’s what I’m committing to: Sharing the journey. Not just documenting wins. Showing the steps. The setbacks. The unglamorous parts. Because that’s where real learning happens.

Your move: Stop comparing your chapter three to someone else’s chapter twenty. Focus on the work in front of you today. Build the system. Have the conversation. Create the content. The numbers follow the work, not the other way around.

Do the work. Trust the process. The results come when they come.

  • It All Comes Back to Communication

Greetings Reader, Over the weekend I had a few chats with a friend on the effects of AI. We will be in for a ride. Sure the opportunities are endless. It will get stronger and better, but it also feels like we’re losing more and more the human touch. I’m trying to figure out how to talk about business without touching the subject of AI. The development is just so much faster than I anticipated. I’ve been in this space now since the launch of GPT 3,5. And it’s been a wild ride. I can promise…

  • The Three Models That Help You Move Fast

Greetings Reader, Last night I spoke with a lot of Founders at a local event. There is one pattern that kept coming up. I’m planning this. I’m waiting on this. I haven’t gotten the feedback yet. All those statements are holding your business back. They will lock and keep you stuck, because you gave the power to act away. Over the past years I’ve tried to study the greed and there are three models that help you move fast. Urgency is the mover. Urgency means to just close the gap between…

  • The Fight Between Persuasion and Manipulation

Greetings Reader, Recently I did a deep dive into the world of communication. There are generally two different skillsets to communication. One is the personal communication. Your journal to your dinner table conversation. When we enter the arena of public communications we have a lot of traditions. We have the historic school of the Orator – aka. Speaker. Over the centuries we have seen a specialization. The speaker was trained in propaganda. The Art of public persuasion. After the second…

  • The Hidden Truth Behind Consistency (not many know)

The first advice people will hear is to be consistent. Post daily. Stick to your schedule. Be consistent. Most give this advice without giving you the understanding of why it matters. “When everybody is consistent, I’m not able to stand out.” That’s what I often hear as a response. “I need to focus on my quality, since everybody is focused on quantity.” This is also a false belief. Since you don’t even know what quantity is. So back to the advice to be consistent. Most people that try…

  • Don’t chase cheap leads

All businesses are constantly on the lookout for fast, cheap leads. They want to get new leads ASAP. A lot of founders opt for tactics to grow. Tactics might get you leads today — but the thing is:Tactics change fast. Growing your business with tactics is like day trading. The top 1% is making money, but the rest is paying for it. There is no scalable, reliable growth for your business gambling with tactics. There is a secret behind the top 1%: They use tactics on top of systems. We need to…
