The Work Nobody Talks About
Hey Reader,
Most people think the hard part is coming up with ideas.
It’s not. The hard part is knowing what to cut.
I’ve been working with founders for years now. Every single one has great ideas. Powerful concepts. Things that could genuinely help people.
But that’s also the problem.
They try to put everything into their business. Every good idea becomes a product. Every insight becomes a service. Every lesson becomes content. And suddenly they’re overwhelmed with a business that’s too complicated to explain and too scattered to scale.
The solution isn’t having fewer ideas. It’s boiling them down.
Think about making barbecue sauce. You don’t start with the final product. You start with four times the amount of liquid. Then you simmer. The water evaporates. The flavors concentrate. What’s left is rich, thick, and actually useful.
That’s what we need to do with our ideas. Take the abundance and reduce it to the essence.
This is a two step process. First, generate volume. Get all your thoughts out. Explore every angle. Don’t hold back.
Second, trim ruthlessly. Ask: What’s the core? What can I remove without losing the value? What’s just adding complexity without adding clarity?
Most people stop at step one. They generate ideas and immediately try to implement all of them. That’s like serving the barbecue sauce before it’s reduced. It’s watery. It doesn’t stick.
The real work is the simmering. Taking time to let the unnecessary parts evaporate so what remains is concentrated and powerful.
Your business should feel simple to explain. If it doesn’t, you haven’t boiled it down enough yet.
Your move: Write out everything your business offers. Every product, service, and idea. Now ask: What can I remove? What’s diluting the core? Cut one thing this week.
Rich beats watered down every time.
