Where do we draw our line in the sand?
Greetings Reader,
This morning I read an article. It was a comment to a recent Claude Code update. You can now communicate with Claude Code from your phone.
In the article he said, that now you can keep coding on the go. On a hike, a quick update. On your date night, a quick bug fix. On your day out, a new test for edge cases.
This is now a new addictive way for you to never stop working, while your not working.
This is something that I have observed myself with Home Office.
For the longest time I have loved home office. I can work and be there for the family. This changed when our daughter was born.
Our apartment was too small. So my office and studio had to go.
Now I’m set up in an office. I leave for work in the morning and return after work is done.
After a month my wife said that I have changed. I’m more aware at home. I also saw it myself. I became more productive at work. When I was home I didn’t have an office to go to. I was more present.
To make this lesson more obvious I created the Coin of Presence. It is really hard to balance a coin on its side. One push against the table and it falls on its head or tail. Either family or business. Someone was always calling.
The point is that we need to be really careful about our focus. Like coding on the go might sound fun, but how good is your thought really?
I really enjoy a lot of AI tools and especially idea servers are great for on the way. The question is where do we draw our line in the sand?
Yours in Stewardship
Jowi
