Why I’m Not Rushing My Business

One thing I’m struggling a lot with is patience.

I enjoy business, and in business we are always concerned with growth.

We want to believe there’s a way to get rich fast.
That’s why the scammers have it so easy to sell us on the latest get-rich-quicker thing.

While I do believe there are better vehicles out there to grow faster, speed is only one side of pursuing a business.

I’m now almost 4 years into my journey.
Over those years, I have seen so many people come and go.
They grew quickly—
And then disappeared.

This is not a good business if you can only do it for a few years and then completely drop off a cliff.

As dads, we can’t get swallowed or destroyed by our business.

There are two things I believe we need to do to be content with slow growth:

1. Plan for Long Outcomes

Realize it’s not a sprint but a marathon.
We want ever-faster growth of our business…
Slow is the lasting fast.

We build for decades, not for days.

2. Take Consistent Action

Being consistent is not about a posting schedule.
Being consistent is about being reliable and trustworthy.
It’s about building a reputation.

It means to show up daily, ready to do the work.

There is no success when we don’t start, don’t take action, quit, or have to stop.

Many people I have seen quit.
It was not that they wanted to quit—
Rather that their life demanded a stop.

They chased success too early—
And they didn’t get there.

Being content with slow growth is the only option for lasting success.
