You’re Either Creating Assets or Buying Them
Hey Reader,
There are only two ways to get assets in business.
You create them yourself. Or you buy them from others.
Most solopreneurs don’t think about this clearly. They just work. They’re busy all the time but never building anything that lasts.
Creating assets means doing the hard work. Getting your reps in. Building expertise. Training your skills. Developing your wisdom. Then packaging all of that into something tangible.
That could be a course. A framework. A piece of content. A system. Anything that keeps working after you stop working on it.
The other path is buying assets. You can buy stocks. Real estate. Businesses. Or you can buy someone else’s time to create an asset for you.
Hire a designer to create your brand. That logo becomes an asset. Not because the design itself is valuable, but because over time it becomes the symbol people recognize. The meaning you attach to it through your work makes it valuable.
Here’s what most people miss: every hour you work is either creating an asset or it’s not.
If you’re doing client work that disappears the moment you deliver it, you’re trading time for money. Not bad, but not building.
If you’re writing content, building systems, or creating intellectual property, you’re building assets that compound.
The decision isn’t complicated. Ask yourself: “Will this still have value next month? Next year?”
If yes, you’re creating an asset. If no, you’re just working.
One Action: Look at what you did yesterday. How many hours went toward creating assets versus just completing tasks? Choose one thing you can turn into a reusable asset this week.
Stop only trading time. Start building things that last.
